This is something that i've been waiting for since arriving here 6 years ago : a music festival, specifically a loud obnoxious one !! I've never understood with the fair weather Cyprus gets why music events outside of winter and summer haven't taken hold. Anyway step forward 'RockiN Sun Festival 2012' which is aiming to be the biggest music event ever in Cyprus, and if it gets off the ground i just think it will be ! They have pencilled in 2nd & 3rd of June, international live bands & artists are confirmed or under negotiation, whilst local bands as well as electronica djs & acts are sending in demo's and the like for consideration.
From what i understand there will be two stages running non-stop bridging the, to some, wide gap between heavy metal all the way through to drum & bass, you get an idea from artists on the bill so far include APOLLO 440 (Saturday headliners), Asian Dub Foundation, Dirtyphonics, Nazareth, Tri State Corner, Karma Violens, Natural Selection, Playmore, Zilla Project .... day 2 headliner is still TBC but i'm led to beleive will almost certainly be a hard rock act. So whilst to the die-hards in each genre this may be a slight disappointment, Cyprus is a small island so going multi-genre gives the promoters the best widest net to cast and fingers cross the best chance of getting this beast off the ground.
Ticket prices are still to be published, but early bird tickets may well go on sale during the following week so keep your eyes on their website for the latest info, i`ll certainly post an update when things are progressing.
